Mission:

To foster a more inclusive modeling industry by leveraging our collective expertise and strong community partnerships to mentor and support petite models at all stages of their careers.

Vision:

We envision a future where models of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds thrive, breaking unrealistic industry standards, with Why Not Petites serving as a catalyst for empowerment and inclusivity.

"Modern beauty standards have led to the misunderstanding and misrepresentation of the word 'petite.'"

The fashion industry is notorious for its exclusionary practices in every way imaginable, but despite strong influences to exclude individuals from fashion, catalysts within the industry have inspired change. We now see plus-size models gracing the runway, nonbinary faces on billboards, and magazine covers capturing the essence of what it means to be differently abled. While we are elated to see progressive efforts in the industry, sadly, we are still lacking the necessary recognition for shorter models. We’re reclaiming the correct meaning of the word “petite” to shine a light on overlooked models and highlight an untapped market full of potential. At Why Not Petites, we aim to highlight these inequities and push petite models to the forefront of the industry, proving that we are here and we are enough.

Her story

Britney Wittes, CEO and founder of Why Not Petites, stepped into her modeling career at a young age and quickly realized that her height was unfairly affecting her ability to secure work. Her talent was never a question; yet her height was an inexcusable “fault.” Still, she refused to let arbitrary inches define her. Britney recognized the glaring truth: the industry wasn’t just limiting individuals – it was blindly excluding a valuable pool of talent. More than that, they’re missing out on the chance to revolutionize the beauty standard and empower millions of underrepresented voices. Her passion and determination paved the way for Why Not Petites, sparking a movement that’s redefining the very foundations of the modeling industry.

Our story

What began as a challenge to height restrictions blossomed into something far more powerful: a talented community that’s redefining success in the fashion industry. At Why Not Petites, we believe that your impact isn't measured in inches, but in the strength of the connections you build and the barriers you break. Our community thrives on mutual support, genuine relationships, and the understanding that each member's journey extends far beyond the runway. We invest in the whole person - their dreams, growth, and individual journey - because we know that true transformation in the modeling industry starts with empowering each voice in our community.
